Indiana University School of Medicine—Terre Haute

Known for its Rural Medical Education Program (RMEP), IU School of Medicine–Terre Haute meets the increased need for physicians to serve rural communities throughout the state of Indiana and beyond. Students and faculty at this campus benefit from an open and collaborative learning environment, and flexible teaching methods attempt to meet varying learning modalities.

With faculty engaged in ongoing research, the Terre Haute campus is paving the way for therapies in acute and chronic diseases, for the scientific assessment of alternative medicine, for interventions in community health and more. Basic scientists and community physicians guide medical students in the learning of foundational sciences through clinical clerkships and directed public health research as part of IU School of Medicine’s statewide medical education curriculum.

Rural Medical Education Program

A unique opportunity exists in the Rural Medical Education Program (RMEP) at Indiana University School of Medicine–Terre Haute. RMEP meets the rising need for rural physicians in the state of Indiana and beyond and offers a distinct experience for medical students. Accepted students enjoy hands-on experience in the state-of-the-art Rural Health Innovation Collaborative Simulation Center and a great educational experience through a vast network of clinical clerkships throughout the state.

Modern Learning Space

For first-year medical students in Terre Haute, the learning environment revolves around Holmstedt Hall on the campus of Indiana State University. The center has one hallway on the first floor designated for use by IU School of Medicine. Here, faculty and students can find a student lab, lecture hall and seminar room/computer lab. The lounge is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, TV, foosball table, lockers and sofas. These facilities are available 24 hours a day.
